Your new home is a beauty. Hunter helps you keep it that way with scheduled hands-on help from service personnel, plus do-yourself easy maintenance recommendations.
Before you buy, know that our team and protective warranties give you assurance that we will walk with you at each step – from signing the agreement, to handing over keys, and years beyond. Three set checkups, emergency service, and a decade of structural warranty are just the beginning.
It’s a date!
Scheduled service house calls means expert help is knocking.
From teaching you more about technical aspects of your home, to a supply of furnace filters and touchup paint, when you buy new, ownership is easier with your allies at Hunter.
Expect these three touchpoints:
Checkup one: Pre-possession Walkthrough
When: Within one week before you receive keys to your new home. Hunter administrative personnel will advise you possession date and walkthrough date by email plus Canada Post letter.
What: Service personnel assist you with a brief training on mechanical features of your home, plus during this meeting we take note of items requiring trade attention. Finishing aesthetics including paint are assessed by the quality promise represented in the show home and tagged for touchup. Our intention is to complete the work on noted items prior to your move-in date.
Checkup two: Post-possession
When: Between 30 days after possession to up to three months.
What: By now you’ve had a chance to observe the functions of your home, and the home itself may settle or contract very slightly. In advance of the checkup, homeowners note newly observed items requiring trade attention room-by-room, and communicate in writing to Hunter Service Personnel. Our staff aim to schedule a single ‘trade day’ thereafter where our contracted trade partners receive access to your home to complete the work required.
Checkup three: Year End
When: Four weeks before the anniversary of your possession
What: It’s been 11 months in your new home, and Hunter is back with more help. Homeowners note items requiring trade attention room-by-room, and communicate in writing to Hunter Service Personnel by email or Canada Post. Our staff aim to schedule a ‘trade day’ where our contracted trade partners receive access to your home to complete the work required, no later than one year after your possession anniversary.
How to get in touch:
Mailed Service Requests will be responded to within 30 days, while e-mailed requests will be responded to within 48 hours.

Handy Homeowner Know-How
From foundation to furnace, get familiar with everything in between.
Care and maintenance, plus answers to common questions on nearly every part of a new home, can be found in this downloadable guide from our friends at The Alberta New Home Warranty Program.
Manufacturer’s Warranty for Brand-Name Products
A new home means new products with brand names and manufacturer warranty. Plus, the workmanship or installation by our trusted trades carries service warranty. Each component of your home may be covered by the maker for one year and beyond, so check your serial numbers to download electronic owners’ manuals or hang on to and refer to paper manuals received at possession.
Included Third-Party Warranty Guarantees Builder Accountability to Homeowners
Your Hunter-built property, plus the condominium common property, is covered by a third party, via a mandatory insurance policy and an insurance premium Hunter pays to The Alberta New Home Warranty Program.
In fact, Alberta’s New Home Buyer Protection Act stipulates that all new homes must include a 1-2-5-10-year warranty coverage: one year for labour and materials, two years for delivery and distribution systems, five years for building envelope protection and 10 years for major structural components
Warranty Coverage Limits
For a multi-family unit registered under a condominium plan: the lesser of the purchase price and $130,000.
